VIDEO: Jews react to Obama UPDATED

Last night's State of the Union speech was, to many, a powerful statement of vision about our country. To others, it fell short - failing to address critical issues.

After watching the speech with friends and allies from throughout the Jewish social justice movement, we asked these leaders to share their reactions.

We found the feedback and critique of our colleagues to be fascinating - but also useful in creating a fuller picture of the President's remarks. We hope that you'll agree.

Glad to see this!  I was very interested in hearing the opinions of the set of folks that JFJ gathered.  Rabbi Pesner started off with a good summation of the theme of the President's speech (I wish Obama had made the point about people and values over politics and partisanship even stronger) and I thought Simon Greer gave a good summation of what the Jewish community can contribute to the cause of justice.  I felt inspired and informed.  Please use this format again!

my personal highlights... (0.00 / 0)

1. 30 billion for community banks!!!!! not all banks behaved badly during the past 10 years - why not reward the responsible ones?

2. jobs, but particularly green jobs

3. the snark (what, no applause for tax cuts?; "that's how budgeting works"), the scolding (don't run for the hills; we're the majority! What's up Supremes?!), the sangfroid (i'm ignoring the hotheads and still going after health care).

4. don't ask don't tell repeal.
