New Orleans music and culture juxtaposed with poverty and violence

Yesterday, the Times-Picayune published a set of photos from a parade through Central City in New Orleans of the Undefeated Divas and Gents and Second-Line Jammers.

They capture some of the essence of the people and places that make up Central City.  And they stand in sharp contrast to an awful killing last fall in Central City that the brief article describes.

The Isaiah Fund is focusing its initial investments in Central City, including a $500,000 loan to Gulf Coast Housing Partnership for the development of affordable housing.
